Santro gets a LPG option
Posted by | Under Hyundai Monday May 18, 2009After the successful launch of the CNG variant of the Santro,Hyundai Motor India Limited launched a LPG version last month. Christened the Santro ECO LPG, the car has been priced between Rs 3.54 and 3.73 around Rs 21,500 more than conventional petrol version. The ECO version works in dual modes on both, LPG as well as petrol. If the car runs out of LPG, the driver can switch to the petrol mode and run the vehicle on the peppy 1.1 litre eRLX petrol engine. The Korean made Toroidal LPG kit is claimed to be far superior to other aftermarket LPG kits. The company claims that the car has been tested by both the Automotive Research Association of India and Department of Explosives for safety standards. The impact resistant 22 litre LPG tank has been cleverly placed in the boot and leaves a lot of space for luggage. In the wake of rising fuel costs and better LPG availability in most cities, alternative fuel vehicles seem to be the need of the hour. The Santro is Hyundai’s largest selling car and this new variant shall further strengthen its hold in the small car category.
