K10B Suzuki engine
Posted by | Under Maruti Friday Aug 21, 2009The all new 3 cylinder DOHC K10B engine has been developed over the last three years by Suzuki and is made at an all new plant in Manesar built at a cost of Rs 1200 crore. This fuel injected 3-cylinder engine meets BS-III as well as Euro IV emission norms and can also meet upcoming Euro V regulations and BS-IV norms. Over the next 3-5 years it will find its way into most other models in the Maruti range, starting with next year’s Splash that will get a 1.2 litre four cylinder version of this engine platform. The K10B displaces 998cc and employs a four valves per cylinder twin cam layout optimised breathing. The 67PS of max power and 90Nm of max torque manifest in a very linear manner making this the most competent small engine in the Suzuki fold. This undersquare engine has a 73mm bore against a 79.5mm stroke which is the key in keeping it compact enough to fit in the small engine bay of the A-star.
