Hyundai Sonata on the roads

The Hyundai Sonata’s biggest advantage has always been its value, as with many of Hyundai’s models according to a Cheyenne Hyundai dealer. The Sonata in particular features air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and door locks, CD stereo, and much more as standard on the GLS. The Sporty SE model adds larger wheels and a sport suspension. The Limited is the top of the line model, and has heated leather seats, sunroof, universal garage door opener, and Bluetooth connectivity.

The base engine that powers the Hyundai Sonata is a 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine with continuously variable valve timing. The engine now produces 175 horsepower and 168 lb ft of torque for 2009. Mated to either a five speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting capabilities, the 2009 Sonata is capable of achieving strong fuel economy as well. Expect 22/32 mpg with the automatic transmission.

The new i20 is sticker job or a cosmetic makeover of the current Getz. It’s an all new car in every way. With a longer wheel base than the Getz, it is designed and engineered to meet the high expectations of the European market. The i20 even though a completely new car draws its design cues form the Hyundai i30 which sells in the European markets. The i20 is a looker we must say and when launched in the Indian market by 2009, it will be the most handsome looking car in the big hatch market. The Getz was big on interior space and expect the i20 to be even better. The car will be offered with a range of seven petrol and diesel engines internationally. Petrol engines a 1.2litre 78bhp, a 1.4 litre 100bhp and a 1.6 litre 126bhp powerplants. Apart from the five speed manual transmission, the 1.4 and 1.6 petrols will be available with a four speed auto box as well. Diesel options on the platter are a 1.4litre turbo with a power output of 75bhp and 95bhp, along with a turbo 1.6 oil burner producing 115bhp and 128bhp to keep the diesel lovers happy.

Santro gets a LPG option

After the successful launch of the CNG variant of the Santro,Hyundai Motor India Limited launched a LPG version last month. Christened the Santro ECO LPG, the car has been priced between Rs 3.54 and 3.73 around Rs 21,500 more than conventional petrol version. The ECO version works in dual modes on both, LPG as well as petrol. If the car runs out of LPG, the driver can switch to the petrol mode and run the vehicle on the peppy 1.1 litre eRLX petrol engine. The Korean made Toroidal LPG kit is claimed to be far superior to other aftermarket LPG kits. The company claims that the car has been tested by both the Automotive Research Association of India and Department of Explosives for safety standards. The impact resistant 22 litre LPG tank has been cleverly placed in the boot and leaves a lot of space for luggage. In the wake of rising fuel costs and better LPG availability in most cities, alternative fuel vehicles seem to be the need of the hour. The Santro is Hyundai’s largest selling car and this new variant shall further strengthen its hold in the small car category.
