Volvo B7R and 8700 city bus

Wednesday Apr 8, 2009

Volvo the first 25 of these buses are destined for Bangalore Municipal Transport Corporation with a price tag of Rs 70-80 lakh. The B7R has also received a face lift with new design headlamps, clearlens tail lamps, new seat designs, an e-lamp interior and leather dashboard. The options list has also increased with the addition of a rear view camera, chemical toilets, foldable TV sets and an electrical roof hatch. Volvo’s new low floor city bus uses a modified B7R platform called 8700. Though the two share the same 7.0 litre engine, the city bus employs a six-speed automatic Zf gearbox. It also comes with disc brakes and air suspension. Inside, it’s air conditioned, has a destination board right above the driver and a reverse camera. I hope this two models will beat the other bus manufacturers and attain a steady place in the market.
